The fees, which would be imposed as soon as September, come as banks and fintechs litigate in federal court over the future of the CFPB open banking rule. Under the Trump administration, the CFPB has adopted the banks’ position that the rule is unlawful and should be vacated by a federal judge overseeing bank groups’ lawsuit in Kentucky.
